Florida Guy Spends 12 Years Building 12,000 Sq-Ft Castle Made Out Of Recycled Materials
"The DaVinci of Debris" from Florida, USA is a 40 year old guy who spent 12 years creating his own castle home, out of recycled materials! What makes it even more outstanding? It is of three-storey construction built in the center of a swamp.
It was way back in the 70s when Howard Solomon first worked on his very own castle. When he and his family first moved to Florida, he decided on building a castle instead of the usual houses since the place was a swamp. Besides, he has always been amazed with castles during the medieval age and the instance became the perfect time for him to make his creative dreams come true.
He covered the entire construction with aluminum plates not to mention extra 4 years to create a Spanish galleon.
Mad Guy
Everyone around Mr Solomon thought he's crazy, like a modern Noah's ark story. But over the last 4 decades, his castle construction eventually became the most sought after attraction in the place.
The whole castle was literally built by hand. He used free metal scraps from junkyards and even built a renovated machinery to use. His castle was made up of numerous towers, wooden gates, a dungeon and even its drawbridge. It is complete with all the classic castle elements.
Unique Castle Construction
As original plan, the castle was just to be made with wooden exteriors. But all of sudden, he felt like covering all of its walls with printing plates which he got from a nearby newspaper company. He also mixed in some stained-glass windows that are homemade too fitting the perfect look of a true and genuine castle.
Mr Solomon lived in his unique recycled castle with his wife, Peggy. When it was featured in various media outfits like the CNN, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, his creation suddenly became a popular tourist site.
Tourists can even get to enjoy a meal at its restaurant that can offer 250 seats or spend a night at the east tower for a cost of $100.
