WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. of the U.S. speaks to reporters during a media day at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, Nevada September 2, 2014. Mayweather will face Marcos Maidana of Argentina in a rematch at the MGM Grand Gard
Mayweather, who loves to brag about his riches on social media, is named the highest-paid athlete in the world. Even without endorsements, the unbeaten boxer managed to earn as much as $105 million. He is the only athlete, besides Tiger Woods, to hit the $100 million bracket. Mayweather’s revenue from his bouts against Canelo Alvarez amounting to $200 million and Marcos Maidana (with a guaranteed $32 million purse in May) was enough for him to secure the first place on the list. Floyd Mayweather has denied that he is having discussions about a blockbuster fight with Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather is adamant in refuting the statements made by the Filipino boxer and his promoter Bob Arum. The unbeaten boxer claimed that Pacquiao's camp is only trying to sell the upcoming Pacquiao-Algieri fight on the promise of a fight with him.

Upon Mayweather's arrival at the MGM Grand ahead of his Sept. 12 rematch against Marcos Maidana, he told Mlive.com that all the reports about a fight between him and Pacquiao are false. He didn't completely shut the possibility of the super fight happening though, and said that anything can still happen in the future.

However, Mayweather also went as far as to say that the rumors are only for the sake of hyping up Pacquiao's fight with another boxer. "... as of right now, I think Arum and Pacquiao's trying to sell tickets for--I don't even know the guy's name--Algieri," Mayweather said. "They're trying to sell tickets for that fight," he added.

In an interview with Fight Hype, Mayweather also denied the Pacquiao fight, saying, "All lies, you know better than that."

In August, Arum told the Chronicle that the television networks Showtime and HBO have both met to talk about the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. Arum was reportedly feeling hopeful that the fight will finally take place in 2015.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, was quoted by the Mirror as saying that they were having "serious negotiations" with Mayweather's camp and his promoter. Pacquiao also mentioned that the fight could happen next year.

The talks about the highly-anticipated fight between Mayweather and Pacuiao have long been on the table, but boxing fans have still not witnessed one of the greatest boxing events, if ever, as all the negotiations have gone down time after time. For years, both Mayweather and Pacquiao were presented with different fights bout after bout. The question still remains: will Mayweather and Pacquiao ever meet in the ring? Mayweather is halfway through his six-fight contract with Showtime. Pacquiao, on the other hand, has just stretched his contract with Arum's Top Rank.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are scheduled to fight other boxers in 2014. The unbeaten American boxer and current World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight champion will meet Maidana in a rematch on Sept. 12. Meanwhile, Pacquiao will face another unbeaten American boxer Chris Algieri on Nov. 22.
