After Floyd Mayweather Jr. victoriously won from Canelo Alvarez on Sept 14, having successfully defended his title of being the world's undefeated boxer, he is still on the lookout for his potential challenger for his next fight in May 2014.

According to the Mirror UK, Mayweather is very much interested to fight Amir Khan, a professional British boxer who has won World Boxing Association (WBA), WBA Super, and International Boxing Federation (IBF) Light Welterweight titles. Mayweather believes that it is going to be a box office when he fights Khan.

Khan is the youngest British to have won a medal in the Olympics. He has a record of 28 wins and 3 losses, 19 of which were won by knockout. Khan was supposed to have a fight on Dec 7 with IBF Welterweight champion Devon Alexander but it looked it will no longer be happening because the British boxer opted to fight Mayweather instead.

The former IBF champion Ricky Hatton believes that Khan would be a great challenger for Mayweather. "Mayweather is running out of opponents to fight," said Hatton when asked by wharf.co.uk. "Mayweather has been that good and if there is one boxer that deserves a shot at him, it would be Amir Khan," added Hatton.

Hatton lost to Mayweather in Las Vegas in 2007.

If the fight is finalised, Khan will receive more than £6 million prize money, win or lose, and it will be his all-time career-high. It will be the richest fight involving a British boxer.

A Mayweather-Khan bout will surely define the career of Khan, not to mention, it will be his biggest payday. It will be exciting to find out how this news will come about.
