Floyd Mayweather Bets Away $10 million on Broncos to win Super Bowl Reuters

Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be visiting South Africa to promote boxing. There is certainly no other fighter who can better promote the sport of boxing than Mayweather who remains undefeated in his entire professional career.

The Associated Press reported Mayweather will be in South Africa for a six-day visit, his first-ever trip to the country. He is set to arrive Jan. 15.

Mayweather's trip is organized by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation of South Africa and he reportedly did not get any compensation to come. The South African government is optimistic that Mayweather's visit will help promote boxing in the country.

The Sports and Recreation Ministry's Representative Paena Galane regarded Mayweather as the greatest athlete in the world. The ministry is confident that Mayweather's four-city visit would help resuscitate the sport.

The undefeated boxer is scheduled to travel to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein. He will also visit East London on the south east coast, which is deemed as the city's breeding ground of South African boxing.

"We wanted someone who's knowledgeable as a fighter and as a promoter," Galane said.

Mayweather can certainly do more than just fling a few punches and sign some autographs there.

"If you want to promote boxing, the first thing to do would be to invite the biggest name in the industry. It is definitely one of the biggest factors alongside media exposure. Mayweather has the skills to be in boxing industry. He is looking as dominant as ever, with 45 wins and 0 loss. His unbeaten record continues. People are left thinking and contemplating if there's ever be any fighter who could truly test and beat Mayweather."

Mayweather will return to the boxing ring May 3. However, he hasn't announced his next opponent yet. He is probably not going to worry about his next opponent for the mean time and simply enjoy his trip to the South African nation.
