Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be calling it quits in the sport of boxing by 2015. The retirement plan was revealed on Tuesday which means that his fight against Marcos Maidana on Saturday could be one of the last for the undefeated American boxer.

Boxing expert Dan Rafael of ESPN.COM was one of the first scribes to report about the plan of retiring:

"I only got two more fights left (after Saturday) and after the next two fights I just want to build the Mayweather Promotions brand," Mayweather declared during the press conference in Las Vegas, Nevada where his next fight is going to be held.

Mayweather is undefeated in 46 professional fights with 26 not going to the distance and will face Marcos Maidana (35-3-0) in rematch.

"As of right now, my focus is on Maidana. I can't focus on the other two fights after that. I have to focus on Maidana. After that we can't say who's the next two are going to be but I'm pretty sure the next two will be exciting fights," Mayweather also said in the same press conference.

In their first meeting, Mayweather defeated Maidana via a controversial majority decision victory. Two judges scored 116-112 (Dave Moretti) and 117-111 (Burt Clements) for Mayweather while another (Michael Pernick) tallied a tie 114-114 in the bout held last May 3, 2014.

Mayweather and Maidana will slug it out for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight, World Boxing Association (WBA) super world welterweight and WBC light middleweight titles at the MGM Grand, Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sept. 13, 2014.

Recent reports have also stated that there are on-going talks between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao’s camp— a concept which was quickly shot down by the undefeated American.

"Not true. I can't say what the future holds, but Arum and Pacquiao is trying to sell tickets for the (fight with the) guy named (Chris) Algieri. Trying to sell tickets for that fight,” Mayweather said referring to Bob Arum from the rival Top Rank Promotions.

Pacquiao will be facing Chris Algieri on Nov. 22, 2014 in Macau.

With retirement nearing for Floyd Mayweather, it appears the superfight the world wants to see between him and Pacquiao won’t come into fruition.
