Floyd Mayweather Sr. Only Wants an Easy Fight for Floyd Jr.
There have been many rumours about who Floyd Mayweather Jr. should fight next. Amir Khan, Manny Pacquiao, Timothy Bradley, and Gennady Golovkin were just some of the names that came up in the boxing rumour mill.
As reported by Hustleboss.com, it seems like the elder Mayweather only wants an easy fight for Floyd Jr. He was asked if it will be worth it for Floyd Jr. to move up to another weight division and have a fight with middleweight champions like Gennady Golovkin and Sergio Martinez.
"I would advise him not to," said the elder Mayweather. "Floyd can make 140 pounds," he added. "How the hell is Floyd going to go up there and fight somebody that big," he said. "It is stupid," the elder Mayweather concluded.
Golovkin is at 160 pounds, and he has also expressed his interest of fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is willing to drop at 154 pounds just to fight the undefeated boxer.
It sure looks like the elder Mayweather does not want Floyd Jr. to fight someone that could beat him. The elder Mayweather has recently said in an interview, also with Hustleboss.com, that if Floyd Jr. is to fight Amir Khan, it should be an easy one. "I want my son to tear his ass out of his frame," he said. "He better take Floyd because that is the only way he can get Floyd because he might not get to Devon Alexander," the elder Mayweather added.
After many years apart, the elder Mayweather and Floyd Jr. have been teaming up together. "As you can see, he is fighting with his Daddy and he is fighting so much better," he said. "Right now, he is the best fighter there is, at 36 years old, and he has learned a lot from me," he added.
Altogether, it is really not a matter of having an easy fight. The elder Mayweather is right. In boxing, you really just fight someone that you know you can beat.
