Floyd Mayweather Sr. Says Neither Pacquiao Nor Khan Presents A Difficult Fight For Floyd Jr.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. said that it wouldn't be hard for his son, Floyd Jr., to fight Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan. Floyd Sr. has said that neither Pacquiao nor Khan presents a difficult fight for the unbeaten American boxer.
In an interview with Fight Hype and on the topic of Floyd Jr.'s next fight, the elder Mayweather said the identity of his son's next opponent is still unknown. However, if Floyd Jr. faces either Pacquiao or Khan in his next fight, he should it shouldn't be that big of a problem for the Grand Rapids native. Floyd Sr. said that his son might consider fighting the Bolton-born boxer Khan, but he wants to see him fighting hard-hitting and stronger opponents, instead of "couple of easy fights" to fulfil his Showtime contract.
Floyd Sr. also said that if the younger Mayweather agrees to fight the eight-division Filipino world champion, it will also be an "easy fight" for him. "Pacquiao can't whoop no damn Alvarez," Floyd Sr. told Fight Hype. "Pacquiao can't whoop them big fighters Floyd's fighting, he can't whoop them guys, man."
Meanwhile, Floyd Sr.'s brother Jeff has told On The Ropes Boxing that Floyd Jr.'s next fight could be between Khan or Pacquiao. "If they do it by names, which Floyd normally does, it may actually help the pay-per-view revenue, it's going to possibly be Khan or maybe Pacquiao next for Floyd, because there's no other options out there in the weight class that make any sense," Jeff said.
According to Pacquiao in his interview with Phil Boxing, the super fight between him and Floyd Jr. could finally happen in 2015. Sources claimed that Showtime wants Floyd Jr. to fight him because it is anticipated that the fight between them could generate great revenues and revert the investments that they have capitalized on the undefeated boxer.
While it may be great news for the boxing world to know that the super fight between the two boxing legends could finally come about, Pacquiao isn't rushing things. Pacquiao's main focus is his upcoming fight against another undefeated fighter Chris Algieri. Pacquiao will face Algieri in Macau on November 22.
