Forbes ranked Carlos Slim as 2011 world’s richest person
This is the second time for Carlos Slim as world’s richest person by Forbes
Forbes magazine has ranked Mexican business mogul, Carlos Slim as 2011 richest man in the world. This is the second year for Slim to top the list with his fortune measured by Forbes at $74 billion.
According to Reuters, the business tycoon has earned an estimated $20 billion this year alone. With his recorded fortune, Slim has now widened the gap between him and his rivals, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
Gates and Buffett added Reuters have committed to share their earnings to charity, a move not shared by world’s No.1.
Compared to Gates and Buffett, Slim ‘keeps a tighter rein on his fortune’ noted Reuters, who was quoted saying earlier that ‘businessmen can do more good by creating jobs and wealth through investment and not by being Santa Claus’.
“One should not seek exposure or applause for the things one does, but simply do them well for one’s own sense of accomplishment,” Slim was quoted as saying by Reuters when asked about humanitarian and charity work.
Reuters noted however that the Mexican tycoon also share to charity some of his earnings from his telecommunications and mining businesses.
