End of this week the wait for Samsung's Galaxy S4 is over but as we get to know the specs and features from the new Android handset, another dilemma sets in. Should we take the plunge now or wait a few more months?

The months ahead indeed offer more options and if persistent rumours prove right Apple would have released the iPhone 5S and its cheaper version by July at the latest. Likewise, another flagship is coming from Samsung, the Galaxy Note 3, which many believe will crash the global gadget party between August and September.

With too many choices out there, it's quite difficult to easily pick out the best deal from the 2013 gadget pool. The decision boils down into grabbing the better deal from the best smartphone lures and no doubt the S4 comes packed with compelling reasons for a good buy.

And here are the specs that Samsung believes make the Galaxy S4 a standout and an immediate buy, if not a must-have device.

Floating touch gestures

Manipulating mobile phones is no longer confined to touchscreen technology. Samsung is reportedly deploying gesture-determined behaviour for its flagship, which allows users to execute commands without actually holding the handset.

Imagine answering a call by hovering the palm of your hand on the S4 or previewing a message by placing a finger an inch away from the phone screen. This may look novelty at the onset but when the technology reached perfection in due time, it adds up more plus points for the S4.

Eye-tracking scrolling

Apparently, Samsung intends to pack Smart Reading feature with the Galaxy S4 by programming its front cam to detect eye movement. As the eye focuses on the bottom of the screen, a chip interprets it as a signal to load a new page.

The possibilities are exciting especially for eBook fans that now look forward to hands-off reading on the new Galaxy S4.

Green PHOLED display screen

This is AMOLED levelling up not only in terms of crisp and crystal-clear rendering but also in energy efficiency. The new technology promises a delightful S4 screen experience, which reportedly will sport a 5-inch viewing window, that is not power-hungry at all.

Green PHOLED chiefly "relies on GREEN-YELLOW colours to make it up to 25 per cent more efficient," IntoMobile.com said. Now that pledges two hours or more of staying alive with the S4 minus the need of running to the nearest power outlet or sliding in that extra battery.

Wireless charging

Earlier this year, the Galaxy S3 got an informal upgrade courtesy of a forum member on XDA Developers. It was figured that the S3 deserves the same wireless charging capability that was introduced late last year with Nokia's Lumia 920 and Google's Nexus 4. In order to reenergise the S3 without connecting it to a power outlet, the back cover must be replaced with some modifications in it. The unit is then set on a plate that was originally designed for an extinct gizmo.

No need to do that on the S4 if indeed Samsung makes true its earlier hints that wire-free charging will become part of the next Galaxy S handset. It was alleged that tech giant is packing the phone with the new feature using Qi standard.

New NFC usage

Sure S-Beam is cool enough, which makes use of near field communication technology to easily share files. On S4, as reports suggested, Samsung will transform the smartphone into a wallet, allowing users to process payment transactions by wielding only their pre-configured handset on POS terminals.

This premium service is expected to initially benefit Visa card holders though Samsung will likely forge future deals with other credit card companies following its recent arrangement with Visa.
