Arguably the best child actor that ever landed Hollywood, Shirley Temple, passed away in the comforts of her home at age 85, according to her publicist, Cheryl Kagan. Shirley Temple is by far the most known child actor to ever grace the big screen. The dimpled and mischievous little child put back the glee and enthusiasm of a populace that was afflicted by the Depression during the 1930s.

According to the New York Times, Shirley Temple was so popular during the 1930s that it is said that she even has more fan mail than legendary Greta Garbo and has had more pictures taken with former President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Temple was featured in 23 motion pictures that have gone massive in sales due to the bubbly, angelic and one-of-king acting prowes s of the child actor.

However, despite the success she received as a child actor, Temple's famae waned during her teenage years. The former child icon officially retired from Hollywood at the tender age of 22 although the former child star would not relegate into nostalgia after her retirement. Temple came out strong during the 1960s when she was appointed as a delegate to the UN General Assembly by then President Richard M. Nixon.
