Former 'Home and Away' star Tessa James was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. She has made an announcement that she would be undergoing chemotherapy.

According to Mayo Clinic, hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, part of the immune system in the human body. Progress of this type of cancer results in the body's action to fight against infection being compromised.

A statement by the representatives for the actress to The Daily Telegraph read that Tessa had returned to the Gold Coast to be with her husband, Nate Myles. They've been married since Dec. 23, 2011 and Nate is the co-captain of Gold Coast Titans.

Nate and Tessa have a six-year age gap and married at The Gables in Australia. He was dividing his time between Australia and the U.S. as he had found his place as a footballer with Gold Coast Titans. Tessa had told New Idea Magazine that she as very lucky to have Nate in her life.

The statement added that she would be undergoing chemotherapy for the next few months. The couple was thankful for all the well wishes they had been receiving, but they were requesting privacy during this difficult period of time.

She was staying away from social networking since her treatment has begun. Her last photo on Instagram, in which she has 32,300 followers, was posted almost one month ago.

A spokeswoman from Seven channel said that Tessa was a very valued and loved member of the family of the series, 'Home and Away' and that she had a wonderful approach to life. She added that Tessa had always been health conscious and they wish her all the best for a speedy recovery.

According to The Daily Mail, on Sep. 21, Nate posted a picture on Instagram of him and Tessa over breakfast. The photo showed Nate frowning and Tessa browsing the menu with a shorter hairdo. His caption for the photo was "Thanks for the breakfast convo #naaaaaaat @tessacharis #bayleaf."

Two week ago, Charis James, Tessa's mother posted a picture of her and her sister Candy on bikes with the following caption:

'Love these two! Reminiscing our recent trip to NYC #cyclingcentralpark #sisters @tessacharis'@candyyjames'

In 2011, she left 'Home and Away' to pursue her acting career in the U.S. She is well known for her portrayal as Anne Baxter in 'Neighbours', the soap opera.
