Nicki Minaj is making waves in the rapping scene. The fact that she's a female makes this even more impressive. According to her former manager, women rappers face unique difficulties in becoming big in the industry, but Nicki Minaj did it because of her phenomenal work ethic and relentlessness to pursue her dream.

In her Vice interview, Debra Antney, former managerof Nicki Minaj shared that there were no shortage of challenges that Nicki faced when she's starting. They worked hard against all these obstacles. However, Debra has to give credit to Nicki. She lauded the rapper's exceptional work ethic and shared that working with Nicki makes it hard now to work with other female artists. She raised the bar that high. Contrary to popular opinion, Nicki was not doing drugs or drinking, or even hanging out with guys.

"There wasn't no partying, there wasn't no drugs, there wasn't no guys, there wasn't none of that. Wasn't no mess, she wasn't on a bunch of meds, she wasn't into drama. She worked," Debra shared. This is why ther females that Debra managed now needed to work hard to demonstrate the same exceptional work ethic that Nicki showed, Debra shared.

And then there was Nicki's passion. She was just relentless in pursuing her dream. The rapper faced a lot of rejection, but she did not give up. Debra was there every step of the way, she shared.

"There was a time when everybody kept turning her down. We went to New York and she sat against the wall and was like 'Why, Deb, why?' And I said, 'Get up. What do you want to do?' She's like, 'I want this.' And I was like, 'How bad do you want this? What are you willing to sacrifice?' And she looked at me and she said, 'I want this, Deb,'" the manager reminisces. The manager also shared that looking back on Nicki's journey and then looking at her current success makes her cry with pride.

Nicki's struggle to get into where she is must be the reason for her staying power. In fact her "Anaconda" is not losing it's luster even though it been out for weeks. Little girls are still dancing into it and the song's being featured in fashion shows. Sims 4 even came out with a remake of the infamous twerking!
