Former Mariner and Socceroo Elrich faces drug and gun charges
Ahmad Elrich, an ex Central Coast Mariner and Socceroo player, has been arrested for multiple drug and gun charges, and is facing prison time. The 29-year-old midfielder was brought into custody when police searched his motorcycle and allegedly found two pistol guns, bullets, a bottle of Cialis (a drug used for erectile dysfunction), and a couple of small plastic bags, when they asked him for his driver's license.
The soccer star who's famous for his performance in the 2004 Summer Olympics, was pulled over while on a motorcycle along Blaxcell Street, Granville at around 7:50 PM, for a broken tail light that preceded the search. Elrich is facing 11 offenses, including three counts of possessing ammunition without a license, one count for possessing medication without prescription, two counts for owning unauthorized/ unlicensed guns, and two counts for possessing an unregistered firearm in public.
No medical opinion has been sought regarding Elrich's use of an erectile dysfunction drug with 36 hours of effect. Cialis, also called Tadalafil, can also be used for arterial hypertension if not for erectile dysfunction - both divisive ailments for a soccer player if Elrich ever decides to go for medical examination to support his plea in court.
Elrich appeared in Parramata Local Court last Friday and was refused bail. He is set to return to court on June 17 for an appeal that might keep him from having a prison sentence. Aside from his altercations with the law, the Merrylands native has been a controversial player from the time that he didn't get drafted for the Australian World Cup team due to his poor performance and inactivity in the Fulham F.C. British league. Elrich played 15 games for the Central Coast Mariners from 2008 to 2010, and was Australia's representative for the 2004 Summer Olympics.
