Former Michael Jackson Wives, Diana Ross Potential Witnesses in Wrongful Death Trial
The wrongful death lawsuit filed by Katherine Jackson against AEG Live is expected to draw media attention with celebrities as well as immediate members of the family of the King of Pop expected to provide testimonies.
Besides Paris, Prince and Blanket Jackson, also expected to be called to the witness stand are his former wives Lisa Marie Presley and Debbie Rowe.
Michael Jackson has no offspring with his first marriage to Lisa Marie, while Debbie, a nurse, is the mother of Paris and Prince.
The identity of Blanket's mother remains a secret.
Other celebrities who would likely be subpoenaed by a Los Angeles court are singers Prince and Diana Ross.
On Tuesday, a 12-man jury made up of six men and six women was announced. However, three alternate jurors have yet to be selected. With the 12 already identified, the trial, expected to last three months, would likely start this week or early next week.
Katherine Jackson is blaming AEG Live, the promoter of Michael's comeback London concerts, for his death, claiming the company was negligent when it hired Dr Conrad Murray, a cardiologist, to serve as the singer's personal physician.
But AEG insisted it did not hire or supervise Dr Murray, who was convicted in 2011 and serving four years for involuntary manslaughter, and that the singer's addiction problem with tranquilisers started years before the London concerts were planned.
Details of Jackson's 2005 trial for molestation of a 12-year-old boy could also be resurrected to bolster the defense's claim that the 51-year-old singer had a history of drug abuse for years.
Mrs Jackson and the three kids are seeking $40 billion in damages from AEG to represent the potential loss of income due to Michael's death.
