Sean Avery, a retired Canadian professional hockey player, is off the market! Avery, who once played for National Hockey League (NHL), got engaged to model Hilary Rhoda on Wednesday, Nov. 8. The couple has not revealed the exact date of their wedding, but they plan to tie the knot sometime in 2014 in Jamaica, reported People.

Avery and Rhoda started dating in 2010. Their relationship has been on and off for more than three years before they got serious in 2013.

In September, Avery was rumoured to be gay and dating Bravo Executive President Andy Cohen. It was in Cohen's show that Avery announced his retirement. When Avery stopped playing hockey, he has been bamboozled with homosexuality issues. They addressed the rumour and said that there is not an ounce of truth to it. They even played along and made a joke of it. They are very good friends.

Now that Avery is engaged, maybe his detractors will put the gay rumour to rest.

The retired Canadian NHL star used to play for the Detroit Red Wings, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, and lastly, New York Rangers, prior to his retirement in 2012. After his hockey career, Avery began getting involved in advertising and started working for a creative agency based in New York City.

Rhoda, on the other hand, is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. She has modeled for Estee Lauder. She ranked sixth in the 2013 list of world's highest-paid models according to Forbes. She recently appeared in the 2013 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

After announcing the engagement, Avery and Rhoda were seen attending the after party of the said lingerie fashion show at TAO Downtown, also according to People.

It was reported that Rhoda wore her engagement ring when she walked down the ramp.

"We are thrilled to plan a fun and the most beautiful wedding than we could imagine," the couple told People.
