A self-inflicted gunshot wound ended the life of 29-year-old and former National Football League (NFL) San Diego Chargers player Paul Oliver in Marietta, Georgia. He is survived by his wife, Chelsea Young, and two kids.

According to Mike Bowman, Cobb County Police Department's public information officer, Oliver used a handgun to end his life at 6:45 in the evening of Tuesday. However, Bowman did not know where the location of the wound is.

Oliver last played in the NFL a couple of years ago and his cause of death left his former coaches and teammates in awe and complete shock. Two of Oliver's closest friends have something to say about the sad episode.

"I have been thinking about it all practice," Eric Weddle said. Weddle still plays for the Charges as free safety. "No words can really express how he was as a former teammate, we played together for five years and there were just a lot of memories," he added. "It is just an unfortunate event and I feel for the family and kids he left behind," Weddle continued. He had last spoken with Oliver about a year ago. "I wish I would have been able to reach to him and help him in some ways," Weddle said.

"He was a great guy and a good friend of mine," Quentin Jammer who also used to play for the Chargers with Oliver told USA Today Sports. "He is just the not the kind of guy who would commit suicide," Jammer said. "I wish I had reached to him, you wouldn't really know if someone is going through something," Jammer added.

Oliver played for the Chargers from 2007 to 2011. His best year with the chargers was back in 2010. He transferred to New Orleans Saints in 2011, but he was let go after the training camp.

As of this writing, Oliver's internment and memorial service have not been decided. This tragic incident is just heart-breaking, most especially, to his wife and two kids.
