Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron spared no kind words for Piranha 3D. Cameron had directed the movie's predecessor Piranha 2: The Spawning.

The self-proclaimed King of the World Cameron told Vanity Fair that he was not fond of the connection to the film. Despite the movie's relative succesul debut at number 2 in the box office, Cameron said he has "zero" nostalgia for having helm the second film in the franchise

."Zero. You've got to remember: I worked on Piranha 2 for a few days and got fired off of it," the Avatar director said.

Cameron said that he does not put the film in his official filmography.

"There's no sort of fond connection for me whatsoever."

James Cameron said that movies like Piranha 3-D cheapens the medium and reminds movie-goers of "bad 3-D horror films from 70s and 80s."

"When movies got to the bottom of the barrel of their creativity and at the last gasp of their financial lifespan, they did a 3-D version to get the last few drops of blood out of the turnip."

But Cameron said that 3D is currently facilitating a renaissance for Hollywood movies.

"Right now the biggest and the best films are being made in 3-D. Martin Scorsese is making a film in 3-D. Disney's biggest film of the year-Tron: Legacy-is coming out in 3-D. So it's a whole new ballgame."
