Former Real Madrid Coach Fabio Capello Says He Is ‘Annoyed’ By Neymar’s Diving Antics On The Pitch
Following Read Madrid's 3-1 victory over FC Barcelona in the thrilling "El Clasico" match on Oct. 26, Fabio Capello has made a statement about Neymar's frolics on the football pitch. Capello, who previously coached Real Madrid from 1996-1997 and 2006-2007, said that he is annoyed how Neymar always simulates a fall every time the Brazilian striker gets in contact with another footballer.
Capello praised Neymar for being a "great striker," but the 68-year-old former Italian footballer, who is now the manager of Russia's national football team, is just not pleased how a football player of Neymar's caliber always falls down when any contact with him is made. "He has a very annoying attitude," Capello told Fox Sports Italy.
Neymar scored the opening goal in only three minutes, and put the Catalans in the lead 1-0 for most of the first half, but Madrid fought back and took control to gain the victory, 3-1.
It wouldn't be the first time that Neymar has been accused of staging falls on the football pitch. Brazil legend Pele told ESPN that Neymar always falls down to get the attention of the referee all in hopes of getting a foul called to earn a free kick, but said that he had seen improvement since joining the Catalans in 2012.
In June, Neymar has earned his first diving meme when he dramatically fell to the ground during Brazil's semifinals match against Uruguay in the Confederations Cup held at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Uruguay's captain Diego Logano thought Neymar was very talented for getting a foul even when there was absolutely no contact. Neymar was La Liga's most fouled player in 2013, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Neymar's dive has inspired creative minds to make gifs in an effort to try to explain what happened that led him to fall in an acrobatic manner to the ground. Football Burp, an online portal for football news and gossip, compiled the imaginative memes, from Neymar being hit in the face by a garden rake to being knocked out by Street Fighter character Ken.
