Stuart Cable, former drummer of the Stereophonics, was discovered dead on Monday at his home in Wales.

Cable was a founding member of the Welsh rock band which became popular in the 1990s. In 2002, he was given his own TV chat show, Cable TV, by BBC Wales. He was dropped by the band in September 2003 because, according to them, he was spending too much time on his new media career at the expense of their rehearsals. Afterwards, he was given a weekend rock show on BBC Radio Wales and formed a new band, Killing for Company.

"Rest peacefully. Stuart Cable 19 May 1970 - 7 June 2010. You will be missed," read a message on killingforcompany.com.

South Wales Police confirmed the sudden death of a 40-year-old man at a house in the town of Aberdare at 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning.

"Cause of death has not yet been established, however there are no suspicious circumstances at this stage. Next of kin have been informed," the police said in a statement.

Cable grew up in the same Welsh village as Stereophonics' lead vocalist Kelly Jones. They launched their debut album "World Gets Around" and 1997 and scored an award for best British newcomer the year after.

"Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly," his mother Mabel told the Western Mail newspaper in Cardiff.

"He is now settled down and then this has happens. It has not sunk in yet."

His brother Paul said the family has no further comments as of now as the cause of death was for the police to find out.
