The world came crashing down on Alabama kicker Cade Foster after he failed on a crucial field goal attempt that caused Auburn to steal the 34-28 victory and caused the Tide to lose out on making the national championship game.

Hate tweets and messages were abound after the hard loss to their bitter rivals, but thanks to George W. Bush, the Alabama senior is a feeling a lot better after receiving a letter from the former U.S. president.

“Dear Cade (#43), life has its setbacks. I know! However, you will be a stronger human with time. I wish you all the best. Sincerely, another 43, George Bush,” said the letter, which was published by Foster in his Instagram account Wednesday.

Bush is the 43rd president of the United States of America and Cade dons the No. 43 jersey for the Crimson Tide.

The social media backlash was sort of expected considering the gravity of the loss. Alabama was aiming for their third straight national title and now will just be playing in the Sugar Bowl against Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Auburn will play in the BCS National Championship Game against Florida State.

Bush wasn’t the first to try to pick up the down and depressed Foster. After the social media backlash, Alabama fans and even teammates showed their support by creating the Facebook fan page “Bama fans supporting Cade Foster” a day after unfortunate loss.

“Framing this,” said Cade about Bush’s letter. That won’t erase the memory of the bad kick but this letter will surely last a lifetime to him.
