Ferrari’s progress last winter has given hope to Jenson Button about the possibilities of Honda’s achievements before the start of the 2016 Formula One (F1) season.

2014 was a disastrous year for Ferrari, who only scored two podium finishes with a poor initial campaign with the 1.6 litre V6 turbocharged hybrid power engine.

2015 was a complete turnaround for the prancing horse as they proved to be the closest competitors to eventual champions Mercedes, winning three races with Sebastian Vettel and gathering twice the number of points than previous season.

Honda’s return to F1 in 2015 was difficult considering the fact that they have issues with reliability and engine power. However, Button feels that Ferrari’s turnaround has shown the way of how things need to be done.

“It was great to see them [Ferrari] pick up the pace. I heard rumours they found a hundred horsepower over the winter. I don't know if that's true or not. But whatever they found, it was massive and they took the fight to Mercedes on many occasions. It was good to see.” Button said to autosport.com.

Button went on to dismiss any potential operational problems between McLaren-Honda partnership over the upcoming winter.

Throughout last season, speculations were raised regarding the methodology on how Honda functioned based on Japan’s culture proving hindrance to McLaren.

"I think there are always issues on both sides, but I don't think Honda get blamed for everything, I don't think that at all.” Button stated regarding the issue.

The former world champion also stressed on the fact that his team needs to take care of any problems, resolve them as soon as possible considering the new season closing in.

Button will be hoping to make amends on his last season which saw the man from England finish 16th in the Drivers’ Championship with 16 points on board.

The Briton has only one World Championship under his belt, which he won in 2009 racing for the Brawn GP F1 team, winning 6 races and gathering 95 points.
