Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton Bags Malayasian Grand Prix Title
Lewis Hamilton of Britain gracefully varoomed his Mercedes into the pit line ahead of all others to clinch the Malaysian Grand Prix title, held at the Sepang International Circuit. His teammate Nico Rosberg ended second and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull ended third.
This is also for the first time that Mtercedes bagged a one-two win since 1955.
Hamilton started his action well ahead of others, leading all through to cross first the pit line.
"Incredibly happy, my first win here in my eighth year, so finally got that ...To get a one-two is quite special, I haven't had many in my career," an ecstatic Hamiltion said.
While the city mourns for the tragedy of the ill-fated Malaysian airlines, Hamilton rightfully dedicated his win to the families of the bereaved members.
"After such a tragedy three weeks ago, I would like to dedicate this win to those people and their families," Hamilton said.
Fernando Alonso of Ferrari ended in the fourth position, while Kevin Magnussen of McLaren ended ninth, followed by Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari in tenth.
Bad luck for Ricardio when in 15th lap his team failed to change the wheel. This eventually led to stop in the pit lane and again brought back for replacement. Kimi Raikkonen also had a tough time when he was hit by Kevin Magnussen from the back right on the opening lap, ending up with puncture. However, he was fortunate to end in 12th position.
Kevin Rosberg, having ended at the second position, was equally happy to bag his runner-up position after a tough race. Though both Mercedes drivers were well ahead, it was Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull who gave worry to Rosberg during the race.
"They were absolutely nowhere (after preseason testing) and now (Vettel) is right in the back of me, pushing me ...They have ramped up their pace, very very impressive, so we need to keep on it to keep our advantage." Rosberg said
