Foster's Group Ltd (ASX:FGL) says its Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) and Carlsberg Group have extended a long-term exclusive licence to sell the Danish brewer's brands in Australia.

"This is an early extension of our current contract and recognises the strong performance for the Carlsberg brand which has enjoyed year on year volume growth of 28 per cent", CUB Managing Director John Pollaers said.

Since 2007 Carlton & United Breweries have marketed and distributed Carlsberg brands in the Australian market.

Pollaers said "We are very pleased with Carlsberg's performance and look forward to continued growth for the brand".

The new deal is a multi-year agreement and covers the Carlsberg and Carlsberg Elephant brands in Australia.
