Four Of The Top Six Goal Scorers At The Barclays Premier League Are Playing In Their First Season
This year's top goal scorers list at the Barclays Premier League consists of quite a few names that are not as familiar to the fans. There are some usual names present and some usual names that are missing.
The present top scorer Sergio Aguero could not play the first few matches in the league because of a stint in the FIFA World Cup and lingering injuries. His unavailability coincided with some unfavourable results for his club Manchester City but with him back in the side his club has been able to make progress in the season. Unfortunately, he is again out with injury.
Diego Costa is a new addition to this league and he has wasted no time in making his presence count. He was the person responsible to kick start Chelsea FC's season even without him in a few matches his team has been able to hold on to the momentum.
The most surprising name in the list is the 25 year old English striker from Hungerford. For a struggling side Queens Park Rangers he has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances so far, including a hat trick against West Bromwich Albion. He has surprised all in his first season at the top division of English football.
Alexis Sanchez is another new import to England. He has so far been the only bright spot in a dull Arsenal season so far. His enthusiasm and doggedness has been a breath of fresh air in a team which is not known for such qualities, especially in their attacking players.
Wilfred Bony and Graziano Pelle are the other two who complete this list. Bony is a known face in English football whose second season with Swansea FC is matching the impressive first one so far. Graziano Pelle is another new import into the English game. His presence in front of the goal has given his team Southampton a lot to cheer about in the opening half of the season.
Among the top six scorers, four are playing the Premier League for the first season. The time to acclimatise to a new footballing culture seems to be a thing of the past. The football fans are not complaining as long as they are getting to watch brilliant goals.
