The Twentieth Century Fox's 3D-animated feature "Rio" dominated the North American box office over the weekend raking in a little less than $40 million.

Featuring the voices of former Oscar host, Anne Hathaway and "The Social Network" lead actor, Jesse Eisenberg, Rio has collected $39.2 in 3,826 locations with an average of $10,252 on its first week at the box office.

'Scream 4' starring former celebrity couple David Arquette and Courtney Cox and actress, Neve Campbell failed to claim the top spot as it collected $18.6 million in 3,305 theaters on its first week.

Bradley Cooper's 'Limitless' has notably been kicking in the theaters after five weeks at No. 10 in last weekend's box-office.

The top 10 movies at the U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday from April 15 to 18 according to Hollywood.com are the following:
