Franck Ribery thinks he should've won the Ballon d'Or Award and not Cristiano Ronaldo. The Bayern Munich star has revealed his frustration about his failure to bring home the coveted Ballon d'Or trophy, which was awarded on Monday evening, to the German newspaper Abendzeitung Muenchen. Ribery said he still cannot comprehend why Ronaldo won the award and not him.

"I have won everything with the team and individually," said Ribery. "Ronaldo has won nothing," he added. Ribery also said that he felt he truly deserved the award. "That is so much politics," said the 30-year-old French winger. Ribery also expressed his disappointment about extending the deadline of the voting for another two weeks. "It was clear Ronaldo would win it," he said. "This had never happened before, it wasn't about football, it was a political decision," he said.

In the 2013 season, Ribery has helped Bayern Munich triumph in the football world. Ribery's team has won five major trophies such as the German Cup, Bundesliga, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. He felt that his performance during the 2013 season was way better than Ronaldo's performance who scored 66 goals in 56 appearances for Real Madrid but failed to with the Spanish football club a single trophy.

Ribery has a point. He was right about winning major trophies in 2013, but he didn't win the award for himself. All his other teammates played an essential part in the same way to contribute to the success of their club. Thus, if Ribery thinks he deserves the award better than Ronaldo, then so does his other teammates too. Don't you think?

Even though Ronaldo did not win major awards for Real Madrid, he certainly did way better than Ribery if you are going to compare them head-to-head. Ronaldo's 66 goals in 56 appearances in the 2013 season is certainly a remarkable feat, in addition to Ronaldo's outstanding hat-trick performance during a match Sweden during the play-offs that has earned the Portugal national team a spot at the 2014 World Cup.

Ribery was one of the key players of Bayern. He is more like a team player. On the other hand, Ronaldo's outstanding individual performance is just undeniable, and maybe it was one of the factors that the voters of Ballon d'Or considered in choosing the winner. He should just be grateful that he was among the final three.

"The golden ball no longer interests me," said Ribery when asked about his thoughts in case he gets nominated again in 2015.
