Ernests Gulbis is making history with every step he takes in this year's French Opn in Roland Garros. The Latvian is the first man from his country to ever compete in a Grand Slam Tennis Tournament and he has already taken out the legendary Roger Federer.

Federer upset was further reinforced by taking down yet another big gun, tomas Berdych in the quarterfinals.

Gulbis is not a new kid on the block however, having already made 27 Grand Slam appearances. This is only the third time that he has made it beyond the third round and only now in such spectacular fashion.

Berdych had a best run up to the semi finals in 2010 but the raging Latvian would deny him of the opportunity to equal that record because he had his own destiny to write. Gulbis hit the lines throughout the match which sent Berdych into a bout of frustration. This allowed Gulbis to advace easily in straight sets.

After downing Federer and Berdych, he will be going up against a man who is out to secure his first French Open title, World no. 2 Novak Djokovic. The Serbian star has been playing a game of musical chairs with Rafael Nadal for the World no. 1 spot but Djokovic has been coming up on top mostly during spells of injury for Nadal.

This year's French Open will be a good way for him to lay a legitimate claim to the top spot with Nadal seeming to be in full fitness.

In a good tournament for Canadians with the strong run of Eugenie Bouchard, Milos Raonic was attempting to make history for himself by becoming the first Canadian man to reach a Roland Garros semi final in nearly a century, 91 years to be exact. Djokovic will have none of it however and powered on in three well fought sets to book his fourth straight French Open Semi final seat.
