Slovakian-born Australian contender, Jarmila Gajdosova, has triumphed over Spanish bet, Anabel Medina Garrigues, advancing in the tournament's third round. The 24-year-old Australian Open champ was pleased with the results of today's match, despite battling angry winds on the Roland Garros clay court.

"In this wind and everything, it's not easy to try to be aggressive so you have to be very patient. I'm just glad that I could take the chances that I got out of it with a win in the end", says the athlete in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.

Gajdosova won in a 2-set match scoring 7-6(4) and 6-4 that lasted nearly two hours. The female tennis star started shaky in the first few exchanges, sprawling back into straight attacks. On the second set, Gajdosova successfully overshadowed her opponent's weaknesses as she surfaced with a strong performance. Gajdosova's win is Garrigues' second consecutive loss in the tournament, a surprising outcome considering the Spanish bet is quite skilled playing on clay. Garrigues caused quite a stir mid-match when the Spaniard requested for a new set of balls because the Babolat match balls were of "different colors".

Gajdosova started playing In the ITF circuit at a young age of 14 and never stopped playing since then. She has joined various tournaments while still a teenager including Redbridge, Wimbledon and US Open; defeating the likes of Aiko Nakamura of Japan and Germany's Sandra Kloesel. The Slovakian-Australian is currently ranked at #43 in WTA overall standings.
