Frequent travelers across the Asia-Pacific, specifically from Australia to Singapore, can take advantage of the new arrangement between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines.

The new partnership signed with Singapore Airlines will allow its customers access to Virgin Australia's domestic network with just one ticket, while Virgin Australia Velocity Gold members and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Gold members will have access to each airline's airport lounges.

The alliance will connect Singapore Airlines' international network with Virgin Australia's range of Australian and Pacific destinations, Virgin said in a statement. It also said that joint sales, marketing, and distribution.

In a statement, Virgin Australia chief executive John Borghetti said this will assure a foothold in the Asian market, which is a critical market segment for the group.

"Singapore Airlines' extensive network throughout Asia will be particularly attractive to our international business and leisure travellers and this partnership," he said.

This latest deal adds to Virgin's existing alliance with Abu Dhabi-headquartered Etihad Airways, which offers up about 60 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and elsewhere.

Moreover, the said partnership will, however, require the approval from the ACCC.
