Directed By: Jonathan Levine

Written By: Jacob Forman

Starring:

Amber Heard as Mandy Lane

Anson Mount as Garth

Whitney Able as Chloe

Release Date: Sept. 6, 2013

Pretty freaky competition against other guys for the sole affection of Mandy Lane. Apparently it's a fight-to-the-death with Mandy as the main prize! There is a twist to the story however, which is a welcome surprise and what sets it apart from predictable films in the same genre.

9. "Wolf Creek" -

Directed and Written By: Greg McLean

Starring:

John Jarratt as Mick Taylor
Cassandra Magrath as Liz Hunter
Kestie Morassi as Kristy Earl
Nathan Phillips as Ben Mitchell

Release Date: 2005

Mick Taylor's mood swings and personality shifts are unpredictable and creepy, which makes this film scary to watch during Friday the 13th. Unlike the others, this is no mystery flick because you will know who the killer is immediately, but the freaky thing is that he seems so ordinary, harmless and normal that it's a bit unbelievable that he can actually kill that many people and with no other motive but for the heck of it. Really crazy killer is downright scarier because it can happen in real life!

10. "The Burning" -

Directed By: Tony Maylam

Written By: Tony Maylam, Harvey Weinstein, Brad Grey and Peter Lawrence

Brian Matthews as Todd

Lou David as Cropsy

It has all the elements of a "Friday the 13th" film, from the lake to the swimmers, killer and revenge plot (Hello Jason Voorhees!) What probably sets it apart from the famous film with a killer hiding behind a hockey mask, is that it is less gorier, but still scary nonetheless. Plus, check out a familiar face in the cast (hint: Seinfeld actor).

11. "Hatchet" -

Directed and Written By: Adam Green

Starring:

Joel Moore as Ben
Tamara Feldman as Marybeth
Deon Richmond as Marcus
Mercedes McNab as Misty
Kane Hodder asVictor Crowley/Mr. Crowley

Release Date: September 7, 2007

This is a mix of other scary films including the "The Burning" and "Friday the 13th" movies. But, what differentiates it from the rest is that it is also funny. It injects surprising humor in a film that is advertised as a horror flick. For an old film, it measures up in gore and violence to the other films that were released after it.

12. "Terror Train" -

Directed By: Roger Spottiswoode

Written By: T.Y. Drake

Ben Johnson as Carne

Jamie Lee Curtis as Alana Maxwell

These 13 scary films that should be watched on Dec. 13, 2013, which is the second Friday the 13th in 2013, are not your run-of-the-mill scary films, so don't dismiss them and try to at least watch some of them, if not all. It will guarantee a good scarefest. After all, it isn't common for a Friday the 13th Part 2 in one year, right?
