A few hours ago the hash tag "Semi is Unbroken" trended on Twitter. True fans know that "Semi" is the coined name between former BFF's Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. Did the trending tweet signify something vital between Demi and Selena? Everyone knows that the former BFFs haven't spoken to each other in a while. Does the tweet mean that the former gal pals have patched things up?

Before all the fame, glory and drama, Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were inseparable. Both having come from the children's show, "Barney", the two supported each other until appearing together in Disney.

Selena and Demi have been best friends for over seven years. Yet, the friendship was quick to fade since Demi's rehabilitation for self-harm and eating disorders. As for Gomez, the lovely Latina was quite busy with then-beau, Justin Bieber. This along with other issues had caused a permanent rift between the two stars.

"Selena and I aren't as close as we used to be," explained Demi in an interview with Self back in 2012. "But she'll always have a place in my heart," added Lovato.

While Lovato claims she isn't as close as she had used to be with Gomez, Selena had said otherwise.

"There's an amount of love that can never, no matter what, be taken away or torn apart, no matter the situation. There are certain people who you will always, always love, so if anything, this just reminded me of how much I truly love her," stated Selena Gomez about Demi Lovato in an interview with Seventeen magazine.

However, with Demi's recent interview back in March 13, things might have gone south for the former BFFs.

"A lot of celebrities don't open up to their fans. They just tell them what they want to hear. They don't really tell them things that can benefit their lives. They just, you know, maybe flaunt around a boyfriend and sell a couple albums. That's not what my career is about," stated Demi in an interview qith KDWB Minnesota radio station.

Clearly, this was a jab against Selena Gomez who had then been in a relationship with Justin Bieber. Selena Gomez said nothing about the statement and had obviously moved on from Demi. Still, this would not explain the trending tweet on Twitter, "Semi Is Unbroken."

Did reconciliation between the two friends happen behind closed doors? Fans may only hope so given it'll only be a few hours away before Selena hits the stage for the MTV Movie Awards. If anything, "Semi" fans can only hope Lovato says great things about Selena's performance.
