‘Frozen’ Returning in Animated Short ‘Frozen Fever’ [VIDEOS]
“Frozen” will be coming back for a mini sequel. Disney has announced a new animated short for the blockbuster hit that will debut in 2015.
The animated short, titled “Frozen Fever,” will see the return of its main characters, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf the snowman.
In the upcoming short, Anna and Kristoff are planning to give Elsa the best birthday celebration ever, but the Snow Queen’s powers may put the whole kingdom at risk.
The announcement was made during the ABC TV Network special “The Story of Frozen: Making an Animated Classic,” which was aired on September 2 in the U.S.
Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will be back at the helm, while Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the husband-and-wife songwriting team behind the mega hit song “Let It Go,” will create a new original song.
Peter Del Vecho will produce the animated short.
“Frozen” was released in November 2013 in the U.S. to box office success. It has generated almost U$1.3 billion, and has won dozens of awards, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Let It Go” from the Academy Awards.
This isn’t the first time Disney has produced an animated short from their box office film. The studio also made one for “Tangled” before. It has also made direct-to-video sequels for “Beauty and the Beast.”
Although there’s no confirmation yet, it’s also likely that Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad will return to voice their characters. After all, the voice actors of “Beauty and the Beast” (Paige O’Hara and Robby Benson) and “Tangled” (Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi) also returned for the sequels.
