'Frozen’s ‘Let It Go' Beats Ed Sheeran's 'I See Fire' As 2015 Grammys Best Song Written For Visual Media
The song “Let It Go” from the 2013 Disney film “Frozen” won Best Song Written For Visual Media at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, which was hosted by rapper and “NCIS: Los Angeles” actor LL Cool J at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif.
With two versions by Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato, “Let It Go” was written by husband-and-wife songwriting team Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. In 2014, the song peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.
At the 2015 Grammy Awards, “Let It Go” beat four other songs, which are “The Moon Song” by SPIKE Jonze & Karen O for the movie “Her,” “Everything Is Awesome” by Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone for “The Lego Movie,” “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran for “The Hobbit” and “I’m Not Gonna Miss You” by Glen Campbell for “Glen Campbell: I’ll Be Me.”
Currently, the “Let It Go” songwriters are working on their next project, which is a musical titled “Up Here” to be directed by Alex Timbers. Posted on YouTube on Dec. 6, 2013, the “Let It Go” sequence performed by Menzel has been viewed more than 412 million times. Watch it here:
