'Fullmetal Alchemist' live action movie reveals Alphonse Elric and release date
The highly anticipated "Fullmetal Alchemist" live action movie is set to be released on Dec. 1 in Japan. The movie will be based on the best selling manga-turned-anime series by Hiromu Arakawa.
The first ever visual teaser from the Fullmetal Alchemist live action movie first shows the main character Edward Elric, who will be played by Ryosuke Yamada. The teaser also shows the computer generated imagery (CGI) that fans will expect to see all throughout the movie.
The second visual from the movie will be feature another main protagonist, who is Edward's younger brother, Alphonse Elric, a full, high quality CGI. Alphonse’s voice actor is still yet to be revealed, but the intricate details for his character is already very impressive.
The live action movie cast will include popular Japanese actors such as Yamada Ryosuke as Edward Elric, Honda Tsubasa as Winry Rockbell, Dean Fujioka as Roy Mustang, and Misako Renbutsu as Riza Hawkeye. They were not the original voice actors of the series.
The movie’s principal photography was taken in Italy, which explains the Renaissance style of architectural environment that materialised in the film. The shooting of the movie was mostly done in Volterra, while other minimal scenes were finished in Japan. The overall film wrapped up on Aug. 26,.
If the movie would follow the original story plot of the manga, it would center on brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric. The brothers journey together in their quest to find the philosopher’s stone to revive their damaged bodies, which they got from their failed attempt in using alchemy.
Fullmetal Alchemist was a Shounen Gangan magazine project that ran for a span of nine years (2001 to 2010). The top selling manga has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide and its anime series rendition has gained even more number of fans across the globe.
"Fullmetal Alchemist" live action movie is directed by Fumihiko Sori and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The movie’s visual effects will be managed by Japanese VFX company, OXYBOT Inc. Since the film is produced by Warner Bros, it may eventually be released in other countries worldwide sometime in the near future.
According to the site animeanime, fans of the anime can get discounted movie tickets on all cinemas in Japan. Japan usually celebrates their so-called “Movie Day" on the said release date of the aforementioned anime. During this day, there are Filmmakers usually expecting a large turnout of profit, making it a perfect platform for a film debut.
