Funny ‘Eastwooding’ Meme Craze Still On, Twitter and Tumblr Feature ‘Eco’ and SoCal Versions
'Invisible Obama' Tweets Funny Replies
If funny internet memes were ocean waves, meme creators and followers are the surfing junkies who are always eager to ride a great wave and make it last. "Eastwooding" is one of those topics that make a great meme wave.
"Eastwooding" sparked a wave of funny memes since Thursday, when actor and film director Clint Eastwood talked to an invisible President Obama sitting on a wooden chair at the Republican National Convention. (Watch the video below, or see it here.)
So, Mr. President, how do you handle the promises you made when you were running for election?" Eastwood begins the interview with a seemingly well-considered question. And then he rambles on, but then he hardly manages to make a point. One thing's clear though: It does appear that he has a lot of things to say to the president.
Eastwood, 82, has earned a reputation for being a man of few words throughout his career. People wonder about what really happened on that stage, and whether the legendary actor had planned it with someone else.
For now, meme followers will continue to seek and promote the humour in "Eastwooding," and focus on the funny side of things.
On Tumblr, the latest funny 'Eastwooding' memes include an eco-friendly chair and an "Eastwooding" Obama campaign shirt.
On Twitter, Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, posted a spa seat supposedly for Mr Obama. Southern California also has its own "Eastwooding" representation.
Those who cannot get enough of "Eastwooding" have followed @InvisibleObama on Twitter. The account, which now has over 67,000 followers, replied to Ms Huffington's spa chair: "@ariannahuff You have no idea what sitting on a chair all day does to an invisible back."
