Further Weakness Not A Given
FNArena has added another video to its Investors Education section on the website. In this educational broadcast, ATW's Jerry Simmons suggests all is not necessarily lost for equities just yet. The S&P500 is seen flirting with an intersection of trend lines at 1135 and only if this support level would give in, the index would be poised to revisit the lows seen in August at 1094-1095, Simmons suggests. Similarly, there seems to be an abundance of aggressive buyers ready to enter and re-enter the market every time the Nasdaq index plunges to key technical support level, he has observed.
Having said so, there is still a genuine chance copper is carving out a head-and-shoulders pattern on price charts and, if confirmed, that wouldn't be a positive indication, acknowledges Simmons. He sticks with a bearish bias on copper as long as the metal stays below US$4.14-4.20/lb. Simmons notes the metal has built a considerable base in the US$3.87-3.97/lb area. The key for copper remains whether price action will take out the previous low or not, in Simmons' view.
Meanwhile, he's inclined to stay bullish/positive on AUD/USD as long as the cross remains above 1.019, while the road ahead for EUR/USD seems to be one that can still take various variations and options. Simmons observes there is the possibility EUR/USD is forming a bullish wedge on daily price charts, but a breakout above 1.385 is needed to confirm.
