It appears that Galaxy Note 3 fans will have to bear more waiting time as a new report suggests that Samsung will use an LCD display panel for the upcoming phablet instead of the usual AMOLED.

The same report claimed that Sharp's IGZO LCD is a prime candidate for the phablet because it works best with the S-Pen.

The main objective of the display switch is to deliver an optimal stylus experience with the Note 3, according to prolific Samsung Galaxy new provider SamMobile.

Apparently, Samsung engineers are convinced that LCD, specifically the variant developed by Japanese tech firm Sharp, is the best fit for the S-Pen features, which has become one of the most popular come-ons of the leading phablet.

However, nothing is definite yet when it comes to the final build of the Note 3, the same report said, indicating that production of the oversized smartphone has yet to commence, with Samsung still undecided on the components that will be included with the device.

Earlier reports have suggested that the next phablet iteration would be the first to showcase the 8-core muscles of Exynos Octa 5 that Samsung will pair with the PHOLED screen technology, said to be the same panel that the Galaxy S4 will show off.

Together, the two components would make the 5.9-inch Note 3 energy efficient, likely extending the device's operation hours by more than 50 per cent, blog reports said.

But the new development seems to hint too that another pushback on Galaxy Note 3's launch date would likely occur as Samsung is still in the process of picking the suitable components for the much-anticipated phablet.

That means everything we know about the Note 3 all rest on the drawing boards, which should explain the phablet's non-appearance during the 2013 MWC in Barcelona. Essentially, the surprise skip was Samsung saying that the Note 3 remains a work in progress, analysts said.

The best bet for a debut then, experts said, is within Q3 2013 with Samsung probably taking advantage of the 2013 IFA event in Berlin. Or the company can stage an excusive event for the Note 3 to match its scheduled Galaxy S4 preview this week in New York.

Regardless, Samsung appears aiming for near-perfection on its next phablet offering as it tries to effectively deal with upcoming competitions, foremost of which is Apple's rumoured phablet-size iPhone 6 that analyst said will hit global markets starting in the initial months of Q1 2014.
