One explanation why Samsung is getting a larger cut of the smartphone pie is that the South Korean tech giant has affordable units that offer the same technology and similar specs to high-end units of competitors.

Reports said that Samsung will again roll out another easy-on-the-pocket smartphone in May - the Galaxy Pocket Neo.

SamMobile said the Pocket Neo would be an entry-level Android smartphone in the tradition of the Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Young. The tech Web site said the new smartphone will have two versions - a single SIM version with the model number GT-55310 and a two-SIM version with the model number GT-S5312.

Pocket Neo is said to sport a 3-inch screen with QVGA resolution and would measure 104.97 x 57/8 x 11.8 millimetres. It would have a 2-megapixel rear camera, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi 90211 a/b/g/n and A-GPS.

There are indications that it will come out in silver colour although other colours might be also available when it rolls out second week of May.

It will run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and powered by a 1200mAh battery, according to leaks.

However, there are no indications yet on the price tag for the Pocket Neo.
