Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie may be launched on the same year and eventually be pushed to several devices. Android 4.3 is speculated to appear in Google I/O event with the New Nexus 7 running it and Android 5.0 for several Galaxy devices including Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2.

New Nexus 7 Not Nexus 2 7.0

According to Android Authority, an analyst from KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo sent a research note revealing specifications of the second generation Nexus 7. The device is co-created by ASUS and will feature the following specifications:

  • 7.0-inches LTPS display with 1920 x 1200 display resolution
  • Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor
  • 5MP rear-shooting camera
  • HD front-facing camera
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity
  • 4000 mAh battery with wireless charging support
  • Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS

Server logs revealed the details indicating specifications of the device. New Nexus 7 was found to have high-resolution display and same processor type with Nexus 4.

Analyst believes Google would sell the device at cost and will become available through Play Store and other retailers. The 16GB variant would be the cheapest version for sale and later on, followed by high memory variants. It is also clarified that the next generation model is called New Nexus 7 not "Nexus 2 7.0 or Nexus 7 2."

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Devices

As soon as Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie is launched, several Samsung Galaxy devices are expected to receive pushed or manual updates and may not even have to go through Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. This means, these devices have hardware compatible to the next generation of Android OS.

  • Galaxy S3 & LTE variant
  • Galaxy S4 & LTE variant
  • Galaxy Note 8.0, 8.0 LTE, 8.0 Wi-Fi only
  • Galaxy Note 2, Note 2 LTE
  • Galaxy Note 10.1, 10.1 LTE, 10.1 Wi-Fi only

The devices above are listed as "preliminary" and Samsung can change which in the future will actually receive the new Android 5.0.
