Game Review: 'Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons'
"Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons" is an upcoming action/adventure game developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 505 Games. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions ship to the U.S. by August 13 and to Europe by August 16.
The game is about two brothers who have lost their mother and their father is ill. They have to go on a quest to find a cure, which can be found in a magical tree. The synopsis of the game is as follows:
"Guide two brothers on an epic fairy tale journey from visionary Swedish film director, Josef Fares and top-tier developer Starbreeze Studios. Control both brothers at once as you experience co-op play in single player mode, like never before. Solve puzzles, explore the varied locations and fight boss battles, controlling one brother with each thumb stick. This is one journey you will never forget." - Synopsis from the official game website.
The developers roped in Stockholm-based Film Director Josef Fares and has breathtaking graphics that makes for an impressive gameplay.
The player controls both the brothers as they journey through the stunning landscape, solve puzzles and learn more as they go along their quest. Each of the brothers has his own strengths: the elder of the two is strong and can pull levers, while the younger brother can pass through small spaces. The brothers do not appear to be like Laurel and Hardy (for those who are wondering), but the game does have a funny element to it, as the younger brother cannot swim and has to hang on to the older brother.
The game has seen some very good reviews according to the official website. Here are some of the reviews -
"...it might be the best downloadable title I've seen since Journey." - IGN
"A gentle, original game that could well be this year's answer to Journey." - Eurogamer
"Its lovely!... Could Brothers be this year's Journey?" - Dealspwn
The game is available for download for Xbox 360 and will soon be available for download for Play Station 3 and PC.
