Game of Thrones Actress 'Cersei Lannister' Files for Divorce from Husband
The actress playing "evil queen" on Game of Thrones has filed for divorce.
English actress Lena Headey, 38, filed for divorce from musician Peter Paul Loughran. They were married in May 2007 and have a 2-year-old son.
She is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their 2-year-old son Wylie Loughran.
Headey's divorce papers were filed in L.A. Superior County Court. "Irreconcilable differences" was cited as reason for the failure of marriage.
It is unclear whether Headey's busy career had anything to do with the separation.
Headey has starred in two seasons of Game of Thrones, and is expected to be filming for the third season by this time. She also stars in an upcoming sci-fi film "Dredd," a film adaptation of 2000AD comic book character Judge Dredd.
The Game of Thrones chapter
Headey came into the HBO series through a recommendation made by Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister). The two are friends, and Dinklage thought she would be a great Cersei.
The producers had Headey audition for the role and determined she was perfect. The rest is history. The producers are quick to point out, however, that it was Headey's talent, more than anything, that got her the part of the incestuous alcoholic queen.
It is, however, a testament to Dinklage's keen sense of talent spotting and character matching.
