‘Game of Thrones’ Casts Keisha Castle-Hughes as Oberyn Martell’s Daughter - Report
Kiwi star Keisha Castle-Hughes has reportedly landed a role in the “Game of Thrones.” The Academy Award nominated actress apparently told friends that she would be playing a Sand Snake, one of the eight bastard daughters of Oberyn Martell, in the HBO fantasy series.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the 24-year-old “Whale Rider” star herself has hinted on her possible new job after she changed her Twitter name to include the name Stark, the name of one of the lead families in the show.
Her Twitter @kecahu (kemamo STARK) has since been disabled.
She has also visited Hong Kong, London and Northern Ireland, some of the locations where the show shoots scenes.
As for the part that she is rumoured to play, Keisha fits the role of Nymeria Sand, one of Oberyn’s daughters who is described as beautiful, of mixed race, emotional and strong.
Nymeria is one of the three Sand Snakes who are expected to appear in the fifth season of the show. The others are Obara Sand, the eldest, and Tyene Sand, the youngest daughter who uses poison as her weapon.
Apart from the Sand Snakes, there are several characters from George R.R. Martin’s books that are set to make an appearance in the fifth season.
A source told WinterIsComing.net that Prince Doran Martell, a fifty-something prince bound in a wheelchair, will be appearing in a multiple-episode arc.
Prince Trystane Martell, the fiancé of Princess Myrcella (Aimee Richardson), as well as Areo Hotal, Doran’s personal bodyguard, will also reportedly be joining the television cast.
High Sparrow, Septa Unella, Maggy the Frog, Lollys Stokeworth, Yezzan and The Waif were also named by the source to appear in the next season.
Meanwhile, Keisha, who is now based in Los Angeles, flew back to New Zealand earlier in July to co-host a Kiwi variety show. She will be co-presenting “Happy Hour” with Temuera Morrison.
