‘Game of Thrones’ Hodor is 'Not Simple Beaneath it All,' Star Came out Gay? [VIDEO]
Now that HBO's "Game of Thrones" Season 4 is kicking off, GOT star Kristian Nairn who plays Hodor in the epic fantasy series revealed that Hodor is "not simple beneath it all." The Irish actor who works as a DJ before landing a role in GOT recently revealed his sexuality in an interview with winteriscoming.net.
"I've never hidden my sexuality from anyone, my whole life in fact, and I've been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview," says the actor when he was asked how popular he is in the gay community. "Cause it's not something you just blurt out. I've tried to lead the questions a few times, to no avail!"
When asked if being gay could affect his role in "Game of Thrones" the actor didn't seemed too concerned about it. "I had an upbringing to respect other people's privacy, and their right to be and choose what they want. And I expect, no, demand no less for myself," he explained.
"It's a very small part of who I am on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it's important to stand up and be counted. I have and always will stand my ground," added Nairn.
Raised in Belfast, Nairn still works as a professional Dj in between takes of his popular TV series. The actor recently finished a whirlwind tour that had him spinning in the U.S. and then the next day he had to fly to Belfast for another gig.
In his recent interview, the actor also revealed that he is a total metalhead when he was on his teens but the ones who stayed with him are bands like the Cult and Danzig. He also disclosed that there is "no way that Hodor is simple beneath it all. "
"I truly believe that, and can't wait to find out. I do have a couple of favourite theories, but I've decided not to voice them anymore, as I don't want [author] George [R.R. Martin] to see them and think "Hell, no!," says the Irish DJ.
The actor is no enjoying the new found fame as things are keep happening that he constantly check if all his blessing are real. "Game of Thrones" Season 4 is set to premiere on April 17 on HBO.
