Dubbed as one of the best season finale of the show, Season 4 "The Children" closes a lot of chapters in many of the show's character. For most of GOT fans, Season 4 and its finale brought a lot of answered prayers thanks to "Purple Wedding" and Tyrion's vengeance to his tyrant of a father, Tywin Lannister.

Tyrion Lannister, played by Emmy award-winner Peter Dinklage, made a shocking last minute decision of killing Shae when he caught her in the act with his father. Tyrion killing his father on "Father's Day" is a perfect ending for the season packed with a lot of twists and explosive revelations, including Cersei's confession to her father about the real score between her twin brother and three of her children.

"Both basic confrontations, Tyrion/Shae and Tyrion/Tywin, have their source in the books," revealed by the series showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who wrote the last Sunday's episode. "It feels like the people who haven't read the books will probably be pretty surprised by both scenes. We loved those scenes, and kept many of the broad strokes and particulars."

The season also features a lot of departures like the show's all-time favorite villain Sandor Clegane, or better known as The Hound, Jon Snow's wildling lover Ygritte who was killed during the Castle Black attack, Prince Oberyn "Red Viper" Martell and Lysa Tully who was killed by her husband, Peter "Littlefinger" Baelish.

"This season, almost every storyline ended up peaking in the finale, which has never been the case for us before," said the show's creators on their blockbuster HBO Series posted on Deadline. "It was great, knowing we'd be going out on so many climactic events."
