After filming in four countries with over 180 days of shooting, HBO's epic series the "Game of Thrones" Season 4 is going to be aired pretty soon. Winter is coming on April 6, on HBO and it is based roughly on the second half of George R.R. Martin's "A Storm of Swords."

It was on April 2, 2013 when HBO announced the renewal of the "Game of Thrones" series for its fourth season. The much anticipated season after the bloody "Red Wedding" finale of Season 3 will feature ten episodes that were filmed in Northern Ireland and Croatia.

"We got more action, which is obviously more time consuming. It's a brutal shooting season ahead. But if we can make it through, yeah, I think it's going to surpass season three," says "Game of Thrones" showrunner David Benioff.

"The last 3 episodes, there's so many scenes we've been waiting for so long to do. And it just gets more and more fun to write for these characters. After three years of doing it, we have that much more comfort to make everything uncomfortable for them. We're very excited for it," Benioff adds.

New characters will also add new flavors for the series including Chilean actor Pedro Pascal who will be playing the charming Prince Oberyn Martell or also known as "The Red Viper." When asked how they casted Pascal for the role, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed: "This was a tough one. The Red Viper is sexy and charming, yet believably dangerous; intensely likable, yet driven by hate. The boys love him, the girls love him, and he loves them all back. Unless your last name is Lannister."

"We found a fellow who can handle the job description and make it seem effortless. He wasn't easy to find and he won't be easy to stop," they added. English actress Indira Varma who is known for her major role in "Kama Sutra: A Tale of Love" will play as Prince Oberyn Martell's love interest Ellaria Sand.

"Game of Thrones" Season 4 is poised to be the series' greatest season and its cast are nothing but praises about its upcoming season. Charles Dance who plays Tywin Lannister says that "the scripts are impeccable." "We have terrific directors, and dare I say bloody good actors, and absolutely compelling storylines."
