‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4 Spoilers and Episode 8 Air Date
"Game of Thrones" Season 4 Episode 8 will not be airing on 25 May; instead it will be airing on 1 June. The break is due to the Memorial Day weekend. The episode is one of the most highly anticipated for this season, as it will feature the fight scene between The Viper and The Mountain and this fight will determine Tyrion's fate.
Tyrion's fate hangs in the balance as Prince Oberyn Martell has offered to be his champion to fight Gregor Clegane, also known as the Mountain. The reason he offered to be his champion is to get revenge for the rape and murder of his sister by Gregor Clegane.
Gregor Clegane is a seasoned warrior who was seen cutting down men like sheep in the previous episode of "Game of Thrones" Season 4. It will be the long reach of Prince Oberyn's spear and his agility and speed that will work in his favour.
According to the books written by Geroge R. R. Martin "A Song of Fire and Ice," on which the TV show "Game of Thrones" is based, Pince Oberyn will use poison on his spear and will make quick strikes at Gregor Clegane to find an opening in his armour.
Once he wounds him with his poisoned spear he starts to taunt him and provokes him to confess that it was he who raped his sister and murdered her along with her children. In the end it is Gregor Clegane who prevails in the combat and Prince Oberyn loses his life.
Before killing Prince Oberyn, Gregor confesses that it was indeed he who raped and murdered Oberyn's sister. The effects of poison take effect later on and Gregor Clegane is in excruciating pain. Some fans suspect that he is still alive, while all hints in the books point to his inevitable death.
"Game of Thrones" Season 4 will mark a turning point for Tyrion, with the death of Prince Oberyn he will be pronounced guilty. He will not be hanged however, his brother Jaime and Lord Varys will ensure that he gets to safety and leaves Kings Landing.
There will be another big death coming up in "Game of Thrones" Season 4. So far the deaths of Joffery and Lysa Arryn have got the fans hooked to the show in anticipation of things to come. But perhaps the biggest death of the season is still yet to come.
