The horrifying Red Wedding in Season 3 of “Game of Thrones” may have made its mark to GOT fans, but the show’s author promises a more memorable and unforgettable experience in the history of wedding scenes on television.

GOT author, R.R. Martin said in an interview with TV Guide that the show’s fans may be in for a lot of treat in the upcoming season and one of which they can expect is the much-talked about “Purple Wedding,” and this he noted could be as “memorable” as the Red Wedding.

"It's going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season," R.R. Martin was quoted as saying by the Huffington Post.

"It's what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the color of the wine, which plays a big part."

The Purple Wedding features the marital union between King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). In Season 3, King Joffrey got engaged with Margaery.

Hints of the festive event in photos were leaked online, causing more stir for GOT fans, teasing them some more of what to expect in the upcoming season.

Other news outlets noted that the remarks made by Martin on wine is in one page with hints “as to where the wedding will take place, as there are certain Westeros citizens who are obsessed with the stuff and would demand it at a wedding.”

Zap2It: “Expect for this to be a full-on wedding, and with a lot more festivities taking place than what went on at the Red Wedding. Martin has apparently already had a sneak peek of how the big event will look.”

Martin continued to describe the Purple wedding, focusing in on the bride’s dress.

“[The scenes] look spectacular," Martin said, according to Zap2It. "The bride's dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there's some wonderful halftime entertainment."

“Game of Thrones” Season 4 airs in Spring 2014.
