"Game of Thrones" Season 4 will be introducing a few new characters including the Red Viper. The release date of the show has been announced as April 6 2014 at 9 PM and the first trailer will air on Sunday 12 Jan at 8:58PM ET on HBO before True Detective.

The Red Viper is the name by which Oberyn Martell goes by. The intelligent and handsome young man is the Prince of Dorne and belongs to the House Martell. The character will have a very important role to play in "Game of Thrones" Season 4.

Prince Oberyn was very close to his sister Elia, who was married to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen. Prince Rhaegar was the rightful heir to the Iron Throne but was unable to become the King due to the success of Robert Baratheon's rebellion.

During the rebellion the Lannisters eventually supported Robert and joined the attack against King's Landing. The Red Viper's sister Elia was raped and murdered during the sacking of King's Landing.

The Red Viper is expected to be shown as a man who wants vengeance for what the Lannisters did during Robert's rebellion. Viewers may also get a glimpse at what the House Martell may be planning to undermine the influence of the Lannisters in "Game of Thrones" Season 4.

The Red Viper is fond of wielding a spear in battle and is known for using poison on his weapon to give a very painful death to his adversary in a battle. Will he be able to get vengeance for his sister? Viewers will have to wait for the airing of "Game of Thrones" Season 4 to know for sure.

Lord Tywin Lannister, the current hand of the King, will do everything possible to appease the House Martell and keep the fragile peace. The Lannisters will still need to face Stannis Baratheon in battle and cannot afford to fight another house till Stannis is completely defeated.

There will be some major characters dying in unexpected twists and the show is expected to keep the viewers hooked for "Game of Thrones" Season 5. Given the huge popularity of the show many expect the show to be coming back again for another season.

"Game of Thrones" Season 4 promises bigger battles, bigger dragons and a lot of political intrigue and drama. The popular characters Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen are set to return to the TV screens and keep the audience engaged.
