The "Game of Thrones" Season 5 (GoT 5) air date on HBO is expected to be between mid-March and mid-April 2015. For ten months, fans are left to speculate on what happens next to Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons, Sansa Stark in the Land of Vale, Arya Stark in the Free City of Braavos and Cersei Lannister at King's Landing. These female characters all get fiercer and dark toward the end of GoT 4.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains spoilers on Game of Thrones Season 4. GOT 5 casting is underway, and there will be new characters. These five ladies, however, have been in the epic show since Day 1.

Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The Breaker of Chains personally chains and locks up her dragon children, Rhaegal and Viserion, at the end of Game of Thrones Season 4.

Drogon goes missing. Trouble is brewing in Meereen and the other cities Dany has freed. It seems there will be bigger troubles and more difficult decisions for Dany to make in GoT 5.

Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner). The last time Sansa is seen on HBO's Game of Thrones (Episode 7), she is wearing a regal black dress, quite appropriate for the soon-to-be Lady of the Vale. The dark feathers on her shoulders suggest a readiness to soar.

"Shall we go?" Sansa asks Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen). Many viewers sensed the metaphors from the outfit to the question. Sansa's GoT 4 story stops there, which means her first appearance in GoT 5 signals the unleashing of a darker Sansa, Littlefinger's partner in crime.

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams). "Valar Morghulis," Arya tells the ship captain of the vessel that is taking her to the Free City of Braavos. "Valar Dohaeris," the captain tells Arya, launching the youngest Stark girl on a new mission in GoT Season 5 - unleashing the feisty, wily cat within herself.

The effect of seeing Arya's hopeful and fearless expression at the end of Game of Thrones Season 4 reminds viewers of the emotions Daenerys elicited at the end of GoT Season 1. As Daenerys did from Season 1 to Season 4, Arya is transforming in marvelous ways.

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey). Cersei realises in the Game of Thrones Season 4 finale that her father Tywin (Charles Dance) never believed the rumours about her incestuous relationship with Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

"Your legacy is a lie," Cersei declares to Tywin before recklessly seducing Jaime, saying she does not care who sees them. The Queen Regent has always been vicious in showing off her power, but this goes up and gets worse now that Tywin is dead. Game of Thrones Season 5 is the TV chapter where Cersei sinks deeper into the dark.

Game of Thrones Season 5 is expected to be drawn from "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance with Dragons," the fourth and fifth books in the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin.
