“Game of Thrones” Season 5 will be featuring the kingdom of Dorne for the very first time. The producers of the show have released a new video that shows how some of the weapons for the upcoming season for the fantasy kingdom were made.

Every year the “Game of Thrones” armoury comes up with new weapons for the different kingdoms in the show. Each kingdom has its own unique history, culture and symbols of the various banner men of the ruling families. The weapons and armour of each kingdom are therefore different.

Tommy Dunne is the Weapons Master for the upcoming season. A new video released by the producers shows that Dunne and his team are given a “free rein” when it comes to designing the weapons for the show. The executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with the art department did however have a “push” in some areas.

The weapons in focus for “Game of Thrones” Season 5 were Tyene Sand’s dagger, Nymeria Sand’s whip, Obara Sand’s spear and Areo’s axe. Tyene, Nymeria and Obara are the daughters of Oberyn Martell and the roles will be played by Rosabell Laurenti Sellers, Jessica Henwick and Keisha Castle-Hughes, respectively.

The one weapon that Dunne said that he was “happy” about was Aero’s axe. The Weapons Master said that the axe had come out the way he wanted it and that it looked “opulent” for the world it is in. The axe is said to be over 7 feet long with Swarovski diamonds.

Obara Sand’s spear in “Game of Thrones” Season 5 is very similar in design to the spear wielded by Oberyn in the previous season. The whip that will be used by one of the Sand sisters has a snake intertwining the handle and the whip is shown to be coming out of the snake’s mouth, like a tongue.

Fans of the franchise will find that most of the weapons in Dorne will be having some form of a snake in their design. Even Tyene Sand’s daggers have a snake design at the handle. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see the new characters in the upcoming season. “Game of Thrones” Season 5 will premiere on April 12 on HBO.
